Get the Most Out of Your Ride with Flowmaster Pipes

Rev Up Your Car’s Performance with a Custom Exhaust System

I’ve been a car enthusiast ever since I got my first set of wheels – a hand-me-down ’98 Civic that had seen better days. But I loved that little car and was determined to soup it up into a street racer. My first upgrade? A set of shiny new Flowmaster pipes.

Those pipes completely changed the personality of my Civic. The stock exhaust sounded like a wheezy hamster compared to the bold rumble of my new Flowmasters. Not only did it sound a heck of a lot cooler, but I could tell the difference in performance too. The car felt more responsive and had way more torque off the line.

I was hooked. And over the years, Flowmaster has become my go-to brand when it comes to aftermarket exhaust. If you’re looking to upgrade your ride, Flowmaster pipes deliver when it comes to power, sound and style. Keep reading to learn all about the benefits of Flowmaster exhaust systems and how to choose the perfect setup for your vehicle.

Flowmaster Exhaust 101: How Do They Work?

So why are Flowmaster pipes so magical when it comes to improving your car’s performance? It all comes down to the science of exhaust system design.

The stock exhaust on most vehicles is made to keep the car quiet and emissions low. But that restrictive design dampens horsepower and torque. Once you replace the piping with a Flowmaster exhaust system, several things happen:

  • The diameter of the pipes increases, which reduces backpressure. The lowered resistance allows the engine to breathe better and perform better.
  • The mufflers and resonators are less restrictive, allowing more airflow and promoting scavenging. This helps your engine optimize its exhaust stroke.
  • The materials and construction reduce vibration and turbulence in the airflow. Smoother exhaust pulses enhance power delivery.
  • The sound dampening chambers give you control over the sound tone and volume. More interior chamber space produces a deeper tone.

The end result is an exhaust system that unleashes the true power and sound of your engine, while still maintaining street-legal noise levels. Flowmaster’s patented technologies make this customized performance possible.

Let Your Engine Breathe: Types of Flowmaster Exhaust

One of the great things about Flowmaster is the diverse range of exhaust setups they offer. From the aggressive Super 44 to the mellow Delta Flow mufflers, you can find the perfect sound and power gains for your vehicle.

Not for the faint of heart, the Super 44 is engineered for aggressive driving. This is a favorite for high-performance cars and trucks.

Flowmaster Outlaw

Building on the Super 44, the Outlaw cranks up the exterior volume even more. It’s the loudest street-legal system Flowmaster offers. The interior resonance is more subdued though. The Outlaw is ideal if you want wicked performance and to make an auditory statement.

Flowmaster Delta Flow

For a mellow exhaust note, the Delta Flow is the way to go. This system enhances power while keeping the volume refined and interior resonance minimal. It’s perfect if you want an upgraded exhaust without excessive noise. Delta Flow is popular for muscle cars, trucks and SUVs seeking an understated rumble.

There are also Flowmaster offerings tailored specifically for diesel trucks. And Flowmaster’s Hushpower series features a chambered design for maximum noise reduction. As you can see, Flowmaster exhaust really does offer something for every vehicle.

Feel the Power: Benefits of Flowmaster Exhaust

So why would you put money into a new Flowmaster exhaust system versus keeping the stock equipment? Here are some of the key benefits:

Increased Horsepower and Acceleration

By reducing backpressure and turbulence, Flowmaster pipes allow your engine to produce more horsepower and torque. Acceleration will dramatically improve, especially at mid to high RPMs. Expect quicker response time when passing or climbing steep grades.

Improved Fuel Efficiency

The efficiency improvements from Flowmaster exhaust will help increase your MPG. Less restrictive airflow means the engine doesn’t have to work as hard during combustion. The exhaust scavenging effect also optimizes the engine’s exhaust stroke.

Enhanced Sound Quality

Ditch the underwhelming stock exhaust tones and enjoy the bold, refined rumble of a Flowmaster system. The interior resonance is subdued for comfort while the exterior tones assert your presence. You can customize the sound with different mufflers too.

Durable Construction

Flowmaster uses thick, aircraft-grade materials to resist corrosion and cracking. Their patented Delta Flow technology maintains structural integrity under high temperatures. A Flowmaster system will last for years to come.

Increased Resale Value

The upgraded performance and sound of an aftermarket exhaust really enhances the value of any ride. Prospective buyers look for mods like a Flowmaster system. Not to mention you’ll enjoy the benefits yourself in the meantime!

As you can see, a Flowmaster exhaust system is an excellent investment to unlock your vehicle’s potential while making it sound fantastic. The difference in throttle response, power delivery and tone are immediately noticeable.

Choosing Your Flowmaster Exhaust

The range of options Flowmaster offers can seem overwhelming at first. But choosing the perfect system for your car or truck is actually straightforward once you understand your priorities. Here are the steps:

1. Select Your Vehicle

Use the vehicle selector on Flowmaster’s website to filter exhaust systems compatible with your year, make and model. This ensures the parts will physically fit properly.

2. Decide on Sound

Next, consider how loud you want the exhaust to be, both inside and outside the vehicle. Flowmaster’s sound clips help you preview the different mufflers.

3. Choose Power Level

Opt for a more restrictive system like the Delta Flow if you just want enhanced torque without a major horsepower spike. Or go big with the Super 44 if maximum power gains are your goal.

4. Consider Budget

Flowmaster exhaust ranges from around $500 up to $1500+ for premium stainless steel systems. Determine how much you can spend to narrow down options.

5. Read Reviews

Check user reviews and ratings for the systems you’re considering. This gives you valuable real-world feedback before purchasing.

Following these simple steps will guide you to the perfect Flowmaster exhaust for your driving needs and style. An Authorized Flowmaster Dealer can also help you select the right system.

Installing Your New Exhaust

Once you’ve chosen the ideal Flowmaster components for your vehicle, it’s time for installation. Here are your options:

Professional Installation

For most vehicles, having a muffler shop or mechanic install your new exhaust is recommended. This ensures proper fitment and allows for custom fabrication if needed. Professional installation averages $150-$300.

DIY Installation

With the right tools and skills, you may opt for a home installation. Flowmaster provides detailed instructions for the entire process. Allow a full day for DIY exhaust replacement.

Hybrid Approach

You can loosen the stock system yourself then bring the prepped vehicle and new Flowmaster parts to a shop for final installation. This saves on labor costs while guaranteeing a quality setup.

However you choose to tackle it, Flowmaster provides all the information and hardware you need. Proper alignment is critical to prevent leaks and ensure optimized exhaust flow. Take your time and do it right!

Unleashing the Beast Within: My Flowmaster Build

To give you a firsthand look at the magic a Flowmaster exhaust kit can work, let me walk you through my build on a 2010 Mustang GT.

This V8 muscle car came stock with a pathetic single exhaust system. The sound was too subdued and the rear pipes barely filled out the rear valence. Unacceptable!

I decided to upgrade to Flowmaster’s American Thunder axle-back kit with chrome tips. Here’s the rundown:

The kit included two new Flowmaster mufflers to replace the stock resonators, 2.5″ mandrel bent pipes, and 3.5″ chrome exhaust tips. Mandrel bent tubing is important – it maintains a consistent diameter so exhaust flow stays smooth.

I used a few basic hand tools to detach the stock mufflers and pipes from the H-pipe connector. Then it was simply a matter of bolting up the new American Thunder components. I adjusted the pipe lengths and tipped alignment until everything lined up cleanly.

After tightening down all the clamps and hardware, I started up the engine. That first throaty roar from the American Thunder pipes gave me goosebumps!

The sound is significantly louder and deeper than stock. But it’s not obnoxious thanks to the acoustic engineering Flowmaster is famous for. Just a pure, muscular rumble that screams American V8 performance.

The cherry on top was those shiny tips perfectly filling out the rear valence cutouts. Overall the axle-back kit was a game-changing upgrade for my Mustang’s look, sound, and power delivery. I can’t recommend Flowmaster’s American Thunder line highly enough!

Flowmaster Exhaust Sets the Tone

As you can see, upgrading to a Flowmaster exhaust system makes a world of difference compared to lackluster stock piping. And it’s not just about the phenomenal sound – though that might be reason enough for some enthusiasts!

The performance improvements in horsepower, throttle response, and efficiency are what make Flowmaster exhaust systems worth the investment. You simply won’t believe the transformation until you put your foot down on the pedal after a Flowmaster install.

And the great thing is Flowmaster offers a solution for everything from everyday commuter cars to outrageous racing rigs. Their cutting-edge engineering provides that perfect balance of aggression and refinement.

For my money, you just can’t go wrong with Flowmaster exhaust. Their American Thunder line is a great choice for most applications looking for bold sound with noticeable power gains. And it won’t break the bank.

But the range of options lets you customize your setup down to the finest details. Once you get a taste of Flowmaster’s rumble, you won’t be able to go back to stock!

So check out their website, browse exhaust components for your ride, then place your order. In just a couple hours’ time, you’ll be enjoying pure V8 symphony as you tear up the streets. Flowmaster puts the soul back into your driving experience!
