As an avid auto enthusiast, I’m always looking for ways to enhance my ride’s performance and style. So when it came time to upgrade my stock exhaust, I knew I wanted a system that could really let my engine’s power shine through. After doing my research, the Flowmaster Force II emerged as the clear choice – and let me tell you, this baby did not disappoint!
The Force II is Flowmaster’s chambered muffler design, featuring a 2-chamber interior and expertly tuned resonant chambers. This gives it Flowmaster’s famously aggressive sound while still providing a smooth, “neighbor-friendly” tone. But don’t let that fool you – the Force II means business! It’s constructed from 16 gauge aluminized steel, with fully MIG welded seams for hardcore durability even under high temps. The 3″ inlets and outlets maximize exhaust flow, freeing up horsepower and torque for improved acceleration.
Unpacking the Beastly Force II Components

I’ll admit, when the big brown box from Flowmaster arrived, I felt like a kid on Christmas morning tearing open his presents. Inside I found:
- 2 Force II mufflers – the heart of the system, these high-flow mufflers gave me the signature Flowmaster sound I was craving.
- 2 over-axle pipes – these connect the mufflers to the catalytic converters for maximum clearance. Manufactured from aluminized steel with wireform hangers welded on.
- 2 2.25″ exhaust tips – chrome plated and laser cut for an aggressive look. The 4.0″ length gives extra clearance from the rear bumper.
- All necessary clamps, bolts, gaskets – Flowmaster includes everything needed for a full and secure install.
The fully stainless steel construction ensures this system will withstand anything I can throw at it. And with a 3 year limited warranty, Flowmaster clearly stands behind their craftsmanship.
Finding the Perfect Flowmaster Sound

One of the biggest factors for me in choosing an aftermarket exhaust was getting the right sound. Too raspy or loud would be obnoxious, but I didn’t want the muted stock system either. I wanted something muscular and powerful, but refined enough for daily driving.
Based on the audio clips I listened to online, I could tell the Flowmaster Force II was exactly what I was looking for. It has Flowmaster’s classic American muscle car rumble – loud and menacing when you step on it, but not overbearing.
I’ve heard the Force II described as having a “mild exterior tone”, and can confirm it’s definitely on the more subtle end for Flowmaster. I don’t annoy my neighbors when leaving early for work, but still have a bold, authoritative sound when accelerating hard. It’s the perfect balance in my opinion.
To get a feel for the decibel range, tests show the Force II generating:
- 72-86 db at idle
- 92-102 db at 2000 rpm
- 97-113 db at 3500 rpm
So it definitely makes its presence known when accelerating through the RPMs, without being ear-splitting on the freeway. For me, that’s the ideal exhaust sound profile.
Bringing the Beast to Life in My Ride

I took my car to a professional shop I’ve used before to handle the install. With a lift and all the right tools, they were able to swap the exhaust system out smoothly in about 2 hours. Some key steps involved:
- Lifting the car and safely supporting it on jack stands
- Removing the stock exhaust from the catalytic converter back
- Installing the new Force II over-axle pipes using the existing rubber isolators
- Mounting the Force II mufflers and chrome exhaust tips in position
- Connecting everything securely with clamps and hardware provided
- Checking for leaks and proper alignment
The fact that the Force II is a direct bolt-on replacement for the stock system made installation quick and painless. And I have to say – the shop guys were just as impressed as I was when we started up the engine for the first time after the job was done.
The roar from those Flowmaster mufflers was music to our ears! It was louder and deeper, but with a refined tone that didn’t drone or rasp. Just pure, muscular American V8 essence.
Opening Up the Throttle Unleashes the Beast
Since getting the new Force II exhaust installed, I’ve been enjoying driving around town and really putting my foot down when opportunities arise. And let me tell you – this thing WAILS when you open up the throttle!
Having the less restrictive 3″ piping versus stock really allows the engine to breathe easier. The increased airflow results in more horsepower and torque output, especially in the mid to upper RPM range where it counts. I can feel the increased low-end punch right off idle.
This free-flowing Force II system reduces backpressure compared to stock, helping scavenge exhaust gases quicker. Many dyno tests have proven significant gains – up to 18 wheel HP and 28 lb-ft torque at the wheels after installing a Force II system.
My butt dyno can already feel the difference. Acceleration has improved noticeably, giving me that shove-you-back-in-your-seat rush when I nail the gas. The Force II might be mild-mannered when cruising, but mash the throttle and it unleashes the beast!
Why I’m Glad I Went with the Flowmaster Force II

Now that I’ve been driving with it for a while, I’m confident I made the right choice in the Flowmaster Force II. Here’s a quick rundown of why I feel this is such an outstanding exhaust system:
- Aggressive sound when accelerating, without being obnoxious
- No droning or resonance at highway speeds
- Constructed to last from aluminized and stainless steel
- Increased airflow for more power
- Easy bolt-on install using stock mounts
- Quality components from a proven brand I trust
For anyone looking to add some growl to their ride, I can’t recommend the Flowmaster Force II highly enough. It nails that perfect balance of deep muscular tone under acceleration, without excessive interior resonance or noise.
Whether you’re driving a classic muscle car, truck, or sports compact, this system helps unleash your engine’s untapped potential. The sound of freedom awaits!
Cruising the Flowmaster Force II to Exhaust Nirvana

After a few thousand miles rocking the Flowmaster Force II, I’m still grinning every time I hammer down the throttle. The sound, power, and performance are just killer. Here are a few other thoughts from my experience so far:
Daily driving is still civilized – Unlike some more high-strung exhausts, the Force II provides a nice deep growl when cruising around calmly. No obnoxious drone on the highway. It keeps a low profile until I decide to wake it up.
No issues passing smog testing – I had zero problems getting my emissions test completed in California. The Force II is a CARB approved system that won’t throw any codes or fail testing like some “race only” setups might.
Fuel economy seems unchanged – I was concerned my MPG might drop after adding this less restrictive system. But so far my numbers look very similar to stock. The engine can breathe easier without losing efficiency.
Added protection from rust & corrosion – The aluminized steel and stainless components are built to resist corrosion damage from road debris, weather, and salty winter conditions. I won’t be replacing rusted mufflers anytime soon!
Easy to swap tips for a custom look – If I ever want to change up the style, I can easily unbolt the chrome exhaust tips and install different ones like black powdercoated. Adds personalization without affecting the sound.
For anyone on the fence, I say take the plunge and treat your ride to a Flowmaster Force II system. Your engine will thank you! This is one mod that will have you grinning every time you drive.

Force II Vs Other Flowmaster Series – How Do They Compare?

With Flowmaster offering multiple muffler designs, each with its own unique sound, it pays to understand how they differ. Here’s a quick rundown of how the Flowmaster Force II compares to other popular Flowmaster exhausts:
Flowmaster 40 Series – The most well known Flowmaster sound. Raspy and aggressive even at idle. Louder with more interior resonance than the Force II.
Flowmaster Super 40 – Similar to 40 Series but uses Delta Flow technology for mellower tone and less drone. Still louder than Force II.
Flowmaster 50 Series – The best balance of sound and value in Flowmaster’s lineup. Deep growl and minimal resonance. Closest to Force II.
Flowmaster Super 44 – Uses patented “scavenger” technology for a low husky sound outside and minimal interior noise – more subtle than Force II.
Flowmaster Super 10 – The most mild and refined Flowmaster sound. Great tone but very “neighbor friendly” with no annoying qualities.
So in summary, the Force II falls right in the middle – not as wild as the 40 Series, but definitely more aggressive than the Super 44 or Super 10. It’s the best of both worlds in my opinion!
